Three Negrense artists unite in building the “earth chapel,” a
collaborative work anchored on their common advocacy of protecting
the environment. The chapel is located within the area of the
Greenheart Hermitage (at the campus grounds of the University of
Negros Occidental – Recoletos) in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental,
Philippines.
Greenheart Hermitage gathers three artists to build a chapel,
made of indigenous materials (the structure is made of mud, bamboo,
rice straw and stalk and cogon grass) and recycled materials (wine
bottles, discarded tiles, discarded wood slab, etc.). The three
offered their work, time and talent pro bono, to realize the
chapel; Marisol Alquizar, designed the chapel, she is a
visual-artist who dedicates her time building mud houses in the

The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos is holding an
exhibit at SM City – Bacolod East Bridgeway. It showcases the
history and course offerings of the first university in the
province of Negros Occidental. The exhibit is part of the
culminating activities of UNO-Recoletos as it celebrates its
50th year as a Recollect institution in the Province of
Negros Occidental. The exhibits tagged as “UNO-R@50” formally
opened last May 14, 2012 at 2:30 pm. UNO-R@50 Executive

Rev. Fr. Constantino Real, OAR was appointed
new Prior of the Recoletos de Bacolod Community while Rev. Cornelio
Moral, OAR is the Vice Prior. Their appointments came after
the 5th Provincial Chapter in Talavera, Cebu
City.
Fr. Real’s
previous assignments were Valencia in 1984; University of San Jose
–Recoletos in Cebu in 1987; UNO-R, Bacolod in 1994; San Carlos City
in 1997; San Sebastian Recoletos , Manila in 2000 and Cebu in
2003.

Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Guissepe Pinto and Rev. Msgr. Jose Granados of the Pontifical Institute John Paul II for studies on Marriage and Family, Rome were warmly welcomed by the UNORians (High School, CAS, CB&A, and CCJE) together with students from other schools in the city. They are in Bacolod for the National Conference of Diocesan Directors and Executive officers of the Commission on Family Life Movements, Heads of Schools, Family Life Ministers and Clergy from February 13 -17, 2012 at the Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel and Residences. This is in line with the celebration of the “Totus Tuus!”.
